So I figured I would dedicate Thursday’s to older anime’s, to get some spark back into them. To kick things off I want to talk about one of my all time favorite animes, Soul Eater.
Soul Eater plot:
Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a “Death Scythe” and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.
I was first introduced to Soul Eater back in 2013 and I automatically LOVED it. The very first few minutes of the episode is what drew me in. The pilot episode jumps right into the action starting off with a demon lingering over a dead woman’s body about to devour an orb of light, which is the woman’s soul. The demon eats the soul and spots another woman who was watching off in the distance and pursues after her. When the demon catches up to the woman, which is by now on the ground this is when we meet our first pair of weapon and meister, Soul “Eater” Evans and Maka Albarn. Soul transforms into a scythe and through an action scene Maka displays her abilities as a meister, eventually defeating the demon and gaining Soul and Maka their 99th soul. And well I could tell you what happens when they get their 100th soul but if you haven’t watched it, I’ll encourage you to watch it and have you find out for yourself.
This series as a whole was just impeccable. The comedy was great, the seriousness was great, and I absolutely loved the character development. I could go on and on about which scenes I loved the most but then this entry would just go on forever. But I will post one of my favorite quotes.
There is no inherent right or wrong in this world, those labels are just artificial constructs. Right and wrong are held by positions of authority, that is the way it’s always been, so how then could anyone know this truth you speak of? Don’t you see the reality is that the truth long ago became nothing more then a shadow of itself; it’s a mere echo of the past now… The world is one big gray area, it just makes you feel safer that it can be categorized into good and bad that’s not actually how it works

Hell, I loved the series so much I decided to get a sticker of it on the back of my car.
And that’s my throwback thursday post. Have you watched this anime yet? If so, what were some of your favorite scenes/quotes? Who was your favorite character? Leave your thoughts in a comment!
